I. General Conditions
A. This Privacy Policy explains how Waverate collects, uses, and shares your
information when you use our mobile application. By accessing the Services,
you consent to the collection, use, storage, and sharing of your information in
accordance with this Privacy Policy. The Terms and Conditions Agreement
incorporates this Privacy Policy and any terms used herein are defined by the
Terms.
II. Information We Collect
A. Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address, name,
unique username, and password. This is securely managed using Google
Firebase Authentication.
B. Usage and Rating Data: We collect the ratings you submit for songs, albums, and
artists, and the names and descriptions of your created catalogues.
C. Social data: We collect your friend connections and interaction data within the
App.
D. Device and Ad Data: Because Waverate displays advertisements, our third-party
ad network partner Google AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as
Apple’s IDFA or Google’s AAID), IP addresses, and general location data to
serve personalized ads.
1. Users will be presented with a consent prompt before personalized ads
are displayed. You may opt-out of personalized ads at any time in
“Profile” > “Data & Privacy” > “Personalized Content & Ads”.
E. Transaction status: We collect the status and dates of your in-app purchases.
F. Notification data: We collect your device’s push notification token in order to
send you app notifications about your account and use of the Services, including
social alerts, and check-ins. You may opt-out of notifications at any time in
“Profile” > “Data & Privacy” > “Notification Settings” or your device’s system
settings.
G. Widget Data: If you install the Waverate home screen widget, it will display
personalized music data sourced from Waverate's servers, including your recently
rated songs and top artists. The widget does not independently collect data, but
may periodically send refresh requests to Waverate's servers to display current
information.
H. Operating system information, internet connection information, traffic logs, and
crash and error information.
III. How We Use Your Information
A. To provide and maintain the Waverate service, including generating your
personal music dashboards.
B. To identify you as the legitimate owner of your account.
C. To enable social features, specifically creating cross-referenced catalogues and
cumulative dashboards with your approved friends.
D. To review, moderate, remove any User Content that we determine, in our sole
discretion, infringes on any other Users’ access to the services or constitutes a
violation of the Terms.
E. To display advertisements (unless you have purchased the "No Ads" upgrade)
F. To display personalized music data through the Waverate home screen widget.
G. To display personalized graphics of your rating statistics on your dashboard.
H. To manage your account and communicate with you regarding updates or
support.
I. To personalize your experience of the Services.
J. To detect potential or actual errors, so that we may maintain and improve the
Services.
K. To analyze usage patterns and understand User experiences, so that we may
maintain and improve the Services.
L. To relay necessary information to authorized third party institutions to facilitate
full functionality of the Services.
M. To comply with applicable law as judicial process or law enforcement requires.
N. To investigate and prevent potential or actual violations of the Terms.
O. To investigate and prevent incidents of potential or actual security threats, fraud,
and malicious or illegal activity.
P. To send you app notifications relating to your account activity, including friend
requests, check-ins, and app updates.
Q. To defend the rights and property of Waverate and its Users.
IV. How We Share Your Information
A. With Other Users: Your music ratings and catalogue data are shared only with
users whom you have authorized as friends.
B. With Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted third-party
providers, including Google Firebase (for database hosting, storage, and
authentication).
C. With Ad Networks: We share device identifiers with our advertising partner,
Google AdMob to deliver banners and full-screen ads.
D. Apple Music: We use the Apple Music API to search for and display music
metadata. We do not share your personal account information or rating data with
Apple Music.
V. Data Retention and Deletion
A. Waverate will retain your information for only the duration necessary to achieve
its duties outlined in this Privacy Policy. You have the right to request the deletion
of your account and associated data at any time by selecting “Profile” > “Account
Actions” > “Delete Account”. Your password is required in order to complete the
process and your username will be available for new users.
B. If you choose to delete your account, the following steps will be taken to respect
your privacy:
1. Your account information including name, username, password, and email
address will be deleted within 30 days.
2. Your ratings, reviews, and catalogue data will be permanently deleted.
VI. Social Features
A. Friend Requests: By accepting a friend request, you explicitly consent to
sharing your personal music ratings and catalogue data with that friend to
generate cumulative dashboards. Catalogues may be set to private.
B. Revoking Access: You can unfriend a user at any time. This immediately
revokes their access to your rating data and removes shared catalogue features.
C. You may block a user to prevent them from viewing your profile.
D. You may report a user if you believe they have violated our guidelines.
VII. Data Security
A. The security of your Personal Data is our highest priority. We protect your
Personal Data from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access through technical,
administrative, and physical safeguards. The information you provide to us is
encrypted in storage and transit.
VIII. Children's Privacy
A. Waverate does not knowingly collect personal information from children under
13 in the United States or under 16 in the European Union. In the event we learn
that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable
age minimum, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you
believe that a child under the applicable age minimum may have provided us
with personal information, please contact us immediately at
IX. Your Rights
A. You may request to receive a copy of your Personal Data in a portable, readily
usable format by selecting “Profile” > “Account Actions” > “Request My Data”.
B. You may delete your Personal Data by selecting “Profile“ > “Account Actions” >
“Delete Account”. Waverate may retain information necessary for auditing, fraud
prevention, and dispute resolution according to applicable law.
C. You may opt-out of personalized advertising by selecting “Profile” > “Data &
Privacy” > “Personalized Content & Ads”.
